12 day Perú Tour – LIMA, CUSCO, SACRED VALLEY, MACHU PICCHU, PUNO

Day 1 – Arrival in Lima
Assistance provided at your arrival to Lima International Airport and transfer to your Hotel. There you will receive a briefing on your tour; receive vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your Peru trip. Overnight in Lima. Meals Included: None.

Day 2 – Flight to Iquitos and Board River Cruise
At convenient time, pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport to board the flight to Iquitos where you will spend time the next 3 days (ticket or services in Iquitos not included).

Day 5 – Arrival in Cusco
Assistance provided at your arrival to Cusco Airport and transfer to your Hotel in the Sacred Valley. There you will receive a briefing on your tour; receive vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your Peru trip. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

Day 6 – Sacred Valley tour
(Private tour) Departure to the unspoiled Andean village of Awanacancha. You will be led through a relaxed and fascinating workshop on traditional back strap weaving techniques and a discussion on the role of weaving in a contemporary Andean culture. Continuing with our tour will later arrive to the colonial town of Pisac, where a colorful market will welcome us. Enjoy the unique atmosphere during a typical lunch. Continue to the Ollantaytambo archaeological complex, the Incas built it as a fort that included a temple, agricultural terraces, and an urban area. There are two distinct sectors: The religious and worship zone, and the residential area. Ollantaytambo was an important administrative center with probable military functions if one considers the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a “Living Inca Town” since the inhabitants maintain very old practices and customs. Return to your hotel in the Sacred Valley for overnight.

Day 7 – Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu
The day starts with an early morning rise to transfer to the train station for a journey aboard the Vistadome service to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas”. Arrive at Aguas Calientes station followed by a 30-minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding road, to the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we’ll participate in a private guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 8 – Second Day in Machu Picchu
Leisurely breakfast. Then, you will have the opportunity of visiting the Citadel of Machu Picchu for the second time. A private tour guide will be accompanying you to explore the citadel of Machu Picchu for in this second time for a period of 4 hours, having the opportunity to see other spots of the citadel such as the sun gate or the Inca Bridge. Then at convenient time we will board the Vistadome train back to Cusco, while enjoying the Saqra dance, fashion show and beautiful landscapes the city offers during the return. Transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley for overnight.

Notes: Huayna Picchu entrance not included, neither guide for hiking up Huayna Picchu in case you desire to add these services please consult your travel agent.

Day 9 – Flight to Puno
At convenient time, we will pick you up from your hotel in the Valley and transfer you to Cusco airport to board your flight to Puno (flight not included).
Arrival to Juliaca airport and transfer to your hotel in Puno. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to rest and adapt to altitude. Overnight in Puno.
Meals: None.

Day 10 – Titicaca Lake: Floating Islands of the Uros & Taquile
(Shared tour) We start the route in the lake port from where we will depart to the floating islands of the Uros (TITINO). It is said that the Uros have inhabited these islands for hundreds of years, the man from the Uros knew how to get the abundant cantora reed and gather it in large quantities and then join them to form small islands in the manner of platforms. These millennial inhabitants despite on time keep living in the artificial islands of totora, and they are known like “the tribe of the water”, since they have to construct their own Islands periodically, adding new layers of “Totora”. Their homes and their boats are made of the same material. Therefore we visit the main floating island for a time of 40 to 50 minutes and continue the trip to the Taquile island, a walk of about 45 minutes from the port to the village, visiting Taquile for a lapse of
approximately two hours, after a delicious lunch, we leave from Taquile with return to the lacustrine port of Puno. Overnight in Puno.

Day 11 – Transfer out of Puno and Lima City Tour
Arrival and transfer to Lima downtown to start your private guided sightseeing tour to the most attractive and important sites in Lima, the “City of Kings”. The tour includes Lima’s Historical Centre, passing by Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and its Religious Art Museum, and Lima’s Colonial Balconies. Then we will visit Santo Domingo Convent, where we can find the Chapel of San Martín de Porres, where San Martín used to tend to the sick. In the Crypt below the Chapter Room you can see the tomb of Santa Rosa de Lima and the ossuary with the remains of the friars who died in the convent over several centuries. Finally we will go to the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, we will see from outside the ceremonial and administrative centre of the Lima Culture built in the II century A.C. that the Incas considered as “Ñaupallaqta” or Sacred Town.

We will also visit El Olivar Park with olive trees brought from Spain in the XV century, the Central Park of Miraflores, the Love Park and Larcomar, a symbol of modern Lima and a tourist and entertainment centre as well as a privileged site to enjoy an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. After this interesting tour we will take you to one of the nicest restaurants in Lima to enjoy of a delicious dinner. Overnight in Lima.
Meals: Dinner.

Day 12 – Transfer to Lima Airport
At a convenient time, transfer to Lima airport to board your return flight home.
Important note: Pick up service for Lima is included if your residence is in the area of San Isidro, Miraflores or inside the perimeter of the Lima Historic Center.
